Owner, General Manager
I created 510 Tech to meet the needs of small business owners in the East Bay. I grew up in Berkeley, California and have always had a knack for electronics and technology. When I was three years old my family moved into our first home and when we arrived I hopped out of the moving truck, ran upstairs and stuck a fork in a plug socket. That moment pretty much shaped my life, a series of shocking discoveries and love for all things that can be plugged in.
I was always facinated with how things worked, so as a kid I would take toys apart and put them back together. When I was eleven years old my parents bought me a computer for school, a 486 66mhz machine. I instantly took the thing apart and to my parents surprise, successfully put it back together. This was the beginning of my career in technology. Over the next several years I found my love for PC gaming. By the time I was 13 years old I had learned a bit about programming and design to modify games to my liking. I began creating custom levels for the classic PC video game Doom. I would design levels for multi-player environments and even made custom textures to spruce up the maps. This passion continued for many years and began my introduction into image editing and design.
By my late teens I had already started fixing computers on the side. While my friends would mow lawns and babysit for money, I was quickly gaining a reputation around town as a talented computer tech. I would build custom systems, repair malfunctioning software, and help people remove infections from their systems. Around the same time I discovered the internet and learned how to create web pages by writing code in Windows Notepad. My talent for design and function started coming together as I began building websites.
In my early twenties a friend’s father caught wind of what I was doing and asked me if I knew how to edit digital video. Wanting an oppourtunity to leave the retail industry I lied and said I did. I quit my job and spent the next week learning everything I could about video editing to put together a demo reel. I started working with him and learned the ins-and-outs of video production for small business, while also entering the marketing industry. Over the years of working in the advertising industry I was able to learn more and more about how to market products to potential customers. I worked with a variety of businesses creating commercials and long-form television shows. My time at the company sharpened my design skills and taught me how to design custom content aimed at a target audience.
I went back to school to pursue a degree in Information Technology which I achieved with a cumulative GPA of 3.96. I considered for a while what field I wanted to go into after graduating and began looking at my skill set. I had years of experience in IT, design, marketing, and running a small business. The perfect combination came together and I decided to open 510 Tech. Since then my reputation has grown as a hometown web developer that can take any business to the next level. I’ve always had an appreciation for small business and believe that every shop should have an opportunity to own a website. I love working with businesses to create products they can be proud of and I stand by every service I provide. At 510 Tech, we’ve got your back in the tech world.
